[HoE] Re: HoE Setting

Someone asked what everyone thought the HoE setting was like.
Well, here are my $.02. Of course, I have to through out the
disclaimer:
It's your game..yadda, yadda, yadda,...do what you want.

There are three important things to remember about HoE. First,
it is the Wasted *WEST*. The feel of a western is part of the setting.
Second, is the fact that the Ghost Rock bombs that destroyed
civilization are not close to the nuclear bombs that we would use and
third is the fact that abominations roam the land.
I see the cities as having most of their complex intact. Of
course, where ground zero was would totaly be destoyed. They would be
populated by savages, mutants, and abominations. Mixed in with this
would be the occasional adventure or Junker looking to find treasure
of "lost tech". Cities give the greatest reward, but offer the
greatest threat.
Outside of the cities I see a wild assortment of small and
medium sized towns. I think this is where the Marshal can make up what
ever he wants.
I see most of these towns as being something like the weird west

towns of Deadlands. A few powerful individuals would pretty much run
the town. Of course, there would be the democratic towns where people
vote and there would socialist towns where everyone just pitches in,
along with the towns where one or a group of individuals rule by iron
fist (or bullets).
Remember also, that there was no real nuclear winter as is
forseen for our world if the bombs ever drop. I see most of the land
outside of the cities reverting back to it's natural state.
Overall, I see the land looking much like it did during the
old West. Of course now you have more abominations, mutants, despots
using their power to control the land around them, and occasionally a
hero trying to right it all....sounds fun to me.
