        I don't have my HOE yet, however I think I can answer this question.
Stone became a Harrowed at the battle of Gettysburg. The heroes won, but this
wouldn't get rid of the supernatural it would just mean the earth didn't become
a deadland.
        200 years in the future (by the Deadlands reckoning, I like the pun) the
reckoners send the 200 year old Stone back in time.
        Stone comes back in time and takes the form of "old Pete" to "beat" the
heroes and allow the earth to become a deadland.
