As an avid Lonsome Dove fan I say buy it, read it. It may seem big at around 
900 pages but they just fly by. Also "Anything for Billy" and "Buffalo 
Girls" by McMurtry are worth reading. If any of you have a chance pick up 
the Yellowstone Kelly series by Peter Bowen. "Outlaw" by Warren Keifer is 
also really good.
