What is the situation with Forrest in the Deadlands

Forrest is still running around. His Saber is a relic with a nasty manitou
that causes him to commit bloody massacres from time to time. I don't have
the book in front of me at the moment or I could better answer the question
but that is pretty much the gist of what he is doing.
