The massive time involved trying to sort through dozens of threads of
related questions that are often overlapping and unconnected. 
Having to spent the time for the server to load and unload each and every
one of them (which can be upward of 3 seconds per load or unload) all to
try and find some tidbit of info rather than having a list of e-mails
that relate or don't relate, but are organized in an efficient
method.

As a result, what would be a 10 minute run to look at a dozen threads
becomes half an hour to look at two.

But, if you like the forums go ahead and use them. This was just to clear
up why they suck so bad for me.
