Subject: [DL] Wrapping Up
I have a weird situation.
I'm the marshal of our game. In a couple of months, I'm going to be moving
to
another state, which means I have to wrap up the current Deadlands game I'm
running.
In all my years of gaming, I've never really ENDED a campaign - they've all
just faded away. Does anyone have ideas or suggestions on how to end a
campaign?
The "poof your dead!" endings are a monumental buzz-kill. Tie up all the
loose ends, provide a definite source to all the badness the posse has been
dealing with since the saga began and set things up so if the posse blows it
there will be dire consequences i.e. the black hats win a major victory.
Avoid the Buffy apocalypse endings wherever possibe-remember there are other
heroes out there working their kiesters off for the greater good. Also make
it possible so the long term aspirations and ambitions of the posse come to
pass this way they feel a sense of completion.
In short, tie up all the loose ends, line up the bad guys into a cohesive
force, and throw the posse into a tough situation with promises of
fulfilling goals and ambitions.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
