do your self a small favor, get a GURPS book called High-Tech.  I know that 
GURPS sucks, but the books are full of good technical data.  High-Tech is 
one of the more accurate discussions of 1600-1900 guns, cannon, mortars, 
and the like you can find cheap, and in one place.  It talks about how long 
it really takes to reload.  "
