AW: [DL] DRC Article Submission Problems

Hi folks,

I just altered the "Fine Print"and shut down the power lists.

Check it our here:
http://www.e-linkz.de/hoe-deadlands/back-end/htdocs/main_file.php/Submit
Article/

Or read it here:
-------------------------------------------------
Any copyrightable works, products, or other information (collectively,
the "Work Product") developed in whole or in part by the Author and
submitted to the DRC as an Article intended for Internet publication on
the Deadlands Resource Center web site shall, upon submission, become
and remain the joint property of the DRC and the Author.
The DRC retains Limited Electronic Rights: the unrestricted current and
future use of the Work Product for use on the DRC website and any DRC
partner websites (including foreign translation and syndication
websites) so long as the Author is identified as the original author of
the Work Product.

Regardless of Rights granted to DRC, the Author shall retain copyright
over the Work Product and is free to resell or reuse the Work Product
elsewhere in electronic, print and other media so long as such terms do
not remove the rights granted in this submission form to DRC.
Nevertheless he can send us an email to delete the article whenever he
wishes.

The DRC just wants to avoid a situation where we lose the rights to use
the article without knowing it and therefore violating copyrights.

Keep in mind that the deletion may take a few days, cause the DRC has
just a small staff and a deletion of an submitted article has to be made
manually.

So if you're planning to submit articles frequently we advice you to
register as an editor by clicking here. As an editor you will have a
personal controle panel where you can upload pictures and PDF's, write
articles and delete them at any time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope that you can see that we don't want to have any rights
permanently. We just don't want to loose any rights to use the submitted
articles, without knowing it. Cause then we would violate the specific
copyright.

Think about the situation that someone submits an adventure to the DRC.

We publish it.

A few weeks later he sells the adventure to some gaming company, and in
this contract is written that no other page, company, publisher holds
any rights.

From then on we would use the submitted stuff illegally without knowing
it.

I'm not familiar with english business and contract law, and I don't
know if such an contract, which burdening a third party is allowed.

But once and for all. We're none-profit. We don't want to have any
permanent copyrights. WE don't want anyone to relief himself of any
rights except to give us the right to use the stuff as defined in the
fine print as long as the respected AUTHOR wants it.

Everyone who writes sometimes some Deadlands stuff, who likes the idea
of collecting Deadlands informations in one place for the benefit of
other marshalls and players is invoted to publish it @ the DRC.

Not more not less, it's just a fun thing, cause Deadlands and RPG's is
fun. Those who don't understand this shall stay away and open their very
own site with 10 visitors a week.

Our goal is to present the creative works to a larger Deadlands
community.

Greets,

Marcus Dury aka Tenning

Why do you think it is so empty? I have several things I have done, but
I
am not going to GIVE IT PERMANENTLY to someone, and relieve myself of
the
rights to it.

I will just go to an other site, or make a site of my own, rather that
letting this e-shark get it.
