I don't remember the full list, but Shane has mentioned that they'd
like to explore a range of wars, including:
Vietnam
The Boxer Rebellion
US Civil War*...and several others I've forgotten. I think Vietnam may
be the most recent war they're planning to handle, as it's a good
opportunity for a lot of odd stuff to happen. More modern conflicts
where the US has been involved have been more sterile, I think, without
the harsh realities of WWII or Vietnam. As you said, Weird Wars: The
persian Gulf would be a very sort book.
Slightly offtopic: someone was making an Afghanistan d20 book a year or
so ago... Reviews said it didn't pull any punches. I may try to round
out my Weird Wars II collection at some point, as I think the
advantages of a system my gaming group knows might be good for 'fill
in' adventures.
*Yes, Deadlands covers this... but it's a very different game.
Deadlands is grounded in the Weird West and uses the Civil War as a
backdrop, whereas the Weird Wars Civil War game would focus on the
military life itself. Different genre, so no foul.
