Today we have lost the Space Shuttle Columbia, I have only felt this since of communal loss two other times in my life. When the Challenger was lost, and the horrendous and cowardly attack upon the world on Sept. 11th. We have lost some of our heroes today. But NOT the dream that drove them to excell, to reach out and push themselves beyound their limits.
I would ask that we all remember our honoured dead with a moment of slience. Yes, they where citizens of the United States and the Republic of Isreal... But more importantly they where citizens of the entire world, for in their breasts beat the hearts of explorers and visionaries who carried our hopeful dreams of the future aloft to touch the face of God for us. My favourite Anime, Macross Plus, was "Dedicated to all Pioneers" and for me those simple words convey alot of emotion for me. For in a way we are all Pioneers carrying the hopes and dreams of the world in our hearts.
So... Let us all dedicate something good to all pioneers... Dedicate something good to those brave souls who perished today.
Take care and stay safe,
Richard A. Spake
