My wife recently attended the Disneyland in Japan.  They have a "Carousel of
Progress" like ours that covers the history of Japan.  When they get to the
1940s, they merely say, "It was a dark and terrible time.".  Then they move
on to the 1950s in great detail.  Not sure if this is the Japanese in a
state of denial or Disney just trying to coddle up to their
customers...probably a combination of both.
