It's the demo adventure from the site wherein the players start out on a
train in New Mexico and encounter a certain kind of New Science discussed in
Lost Angels.
It could depend on what happened at the end of your session.
(Last stop spoilers)
In mine, the heroes arrested Radcliffe before he killed Wilder. Yet in the fight, a fire broke out and Radcliffe's ghost rock supply ignited, destroying the lab and at the same time most evidence against Radcliffe.
So when the posse told the story to Marshal Phelps (who entered the mine with them but passed out before seeing the lab), 'Hodges' denied everything and accused Wilder instead. Wilder confirmed the heroes' version, but even innocent in this event, he's still quite suspicous.
With all the strangeness he has seen, Phelps decided to investigate further and to hold a trial to establish the truth. Hodges will be the defendant. The posse, Wilder and the rest of the train passengers will testify.
The forthcoming trial has the Las Cruces people very anxious. Rumors abound. Most still trust Hodges on account of his good reputation.
Phelps had all the witnesses placed in hotel rooms they must not leave. Hodges has been instructed not to leave home. More surprising to the townspeople, Wilder is held in jail. Phelps explains it is a protection measure, since it seems 'someone' attempted to kidnap and murder him.
That's where we ended our Last Stop adventure.
What's coming next : in the few days that pass before the trial takes place, two things happen.
First, the Texas Rangers stepped in. They decided to take action after having seen Wilder. They will replace him with somebody looking vaguely like him. The man will be instructed what to say so that Hodges ends up convicted. The Rangers will also secretely contact and convince Blum, Grubb and Parkins to recognize their stand-in as the real Wilder.
Next, there's Hellstromme. The news of the trial don't please him. He sends another team, with instructions and gear (perhaps up to an automaton, although that might be telling) to make sure Hellstromme Industries is never mentioned during the audience.
There's a wide range of possible outcomes, and the trial should be spectacular. I hope to throw in a terrible lawyer or two if the heroes seek professionnal help (I still have to try out those lawyerin' rules that were posted on the list two years ago…).
I hope it was readable and perhaps even of any help. I'd like to hear what you will come up with and how it will turn out.
