i'm only getting attachments that look like a link,
but are all characters. he is not listed in my contacts. i'm using outlook
express, from win98b

You are getting them. They are
automatically being placed in your contacts
list. Everyone else gets
these irritating winmail.dat attachments stuck in
their
emails.
Check your contacts, 5 to 2 you'll see a Mark Chiddicks in
there.
