Shane established Southern manumission in the main DL book, so
that's really a question only he can answer. I'm just a hired gun who got
paid to try and explain it all.;-)

I can only speak to the game industry, but there's certainly an
element of what you speak of present there. FASA/FanPRO, for instance,
seems to be going out of its way to include the South in its games shorn of
anything vaguely realistic, IMHO.
