Medicine in the 19th century wasn't that advanced. Especially as far as drugs go. I think Morphium and maybe Ether were the most often used tranquilizers, but mostly a doctor would make sure his scalpell and the bandages are clean and would rely on common house-medicine - especially if he's wandering around in the west.

Can't really help you with any specifics, but I don't think that a doctor would carry that much fancy equipment around.
