Re: [DL] RPG's and the Sexes

I'm not a woman, but I have played one in a game. : )
> 2. How many women does everyone out there have in their posse?
My posse is 3 women, 1 man.
> 3. What character types do women players prefer?
Each woman, like all of my players, is different. One is playing a tough as
nails gunslinger, one is a saloon girl, one is a high society woman who ran
away from her family to become a photographer for the Tombstone Epitaph.
> 4. Any women Marshals?
Since we have only played the one campaign of Deadlands, none of the women
have been a Marshal, but two of the three are GM's of other games.
> 5. What are the playing styles of the women out there?
Again, each is different. Partly because of my Marshal style, my group is
quite aggressive in general. They are careful not to hurt innocents, but
tend to shoot first at anything suspicious. The male player is running a
Shyster who started the game with no weapons except a pair of brass
knuckles. He since picked up a shotgun, after deciding trying to punch out
a werewolf is a bad idea. : )
I have played RPGs for a looong time, and have played with men and women.
In my experience, both men and women vary in how they game and what they
enjoy. I have gamed with women who were more bloodthirsty and violent than
any male player I have ever seen, and with women who were total problem
solvers and considered combat to be boring. I have also played with male
players who killed everything around for XP, and who wouldn't kill anything
unless attacked first. RPGs attract all different types of people, which is
what made it fun. Most RPers I have met are also very tolerant of
differences, which makes gaming all the more worthwhile.
