[DL] movies and stuff
Ok, I'm running a bit behind it reading my digests, so here is a lot of little.
Suggestions:
Not sure if it got suggested, but Ravenous is a darn awesome movie and Deadlands movie. The characters in the movie are very Deadland-ish with their various "hand ups".

Has anyone seen the Texas Ranger flick with "Dawson" James Van der Beek and
Dylan "LA Law" McDermott?
Just telling from the trailer, the actors looked so miscast...but it still
looked like a decent rainy sunday afternoon western.
Saw it and well.... The Dawson guy is/was obviously eye candy for the ladies, but servicable. McDermott actually does a really good job, IM(not so)HO. No big shakes, wait until it's off the new arrival asile. But it is a good rainy sat western. Speaking of rainy saturday movies, if I could just figure out how to bring Dr. Phibes into the Weird West....
On the other hand, I enjoyed it much more than the horribly inacurate "American Outlaws". The movie itself isn't too bad, just ignore that it's suppose to be Jessie James & Company. According to most everything I've read, it's way off reality speaking. Get past that and it's ready for a double bill with Texas Rangers. God, when is Hollywood going to release another good western? I have to admit I felt slighted by the wonderful "Unforgiven", because I kept expecting Eastwood to go on some bloody rampage towards the end as the "cold blooded killer of women and children". Oh well *sigh*

Pardon me Evil Robot Shane (and everyone else), but may I ask what you mean w/o the supernatural elements? :) All kidding aside, I thought almost all of the main (Hackman, Stone & Crowe) characters are/were harrowed. Notice that Hackman looks much the same in the flashbacks. Stone might be playing a Harrowed with some Huckster abilities (ie "Bullet With Your Name On It" for Hackman, use that one to put the fear of the manitou into a player). Dicaprio (sp.?) is play "The Kid" archeytpe right from the Players Handbook. Crowe might be Harrowed, trying to do Blessed without much luck. Me and some friends sat at a comicbook store on afternoon and kept talking about how Q&D is a Deadlands movie. Watch it and see how *little* you notice any of the characters breathing.

As for the Movie casting, I'm using the post I read somewhere online (I belive Darious' site, but am not sure) with a few changes:
CLINT EASTWOOD as Stone
BRUCE CAMPBELL as Ronan Lynch (Main Character, maybe a nice Brisco County Jr cameo as well)
VAL KILMER as Velvet Van Helter (2nd character)
A Denver Pyle type (but not him) or Ernest Borgnine type as The Prospector
ANGUS SCRIMM as Reverend Grimme "Services are about to begin"
WES STUDI as Raven
Vincent Price as Darious Hellstromme (CGI, of course. That role belongs to him ALONE!)
Jennifer Connelley as Mina Devlin
CHOW YUN FAT as Kang (which I like even more since my Tequla character inspired by CYF has hooked up with Kang) :)
Michael Dorn as Baron LaCroix (The voice alone gets it or maybe Orland Jones. Yeah the "Sprite Guy". Look at him for a minute and think how no one would suspect.....)
guest apperance by Shane (Hensley) as Lacy O'Malley
and a special guest appearance by CHARLTON HESTON as The Ghost
Apologies for stealing this, but when most of the casting is dead on, why argue with perfection????
Lynch and Van Helter are main characters, pick one of the Rail Barons for minor role. Story deals with a wide scope (like a James Bond script, but back when they made sense) and Stone shows up at the end after the big evil has been defeated and says something like "Not bad. I'll see you soon" or "Throwdown". And somewhere Grimme/Scrimm says "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOY".
One last thing, anybody got suggestions about what to do with characters when you don't have anywhere to play them? I checked out Knuckleduster, they have a few solo adventures, but haven't had the spare $$$ to check them out. Suggestions?
thanks
