I already mentioned FDTD3, but I didn't mention why it's good...
The first movie in the series was received well and considered a success,
then the second blew chunks... It is honestly one of the most poorly made
movies I've ever seen, and had very little to do with the first besides
vampires and guys in cowboy boots. I think Tarantino had a small job on it
as a producer... It's essentially a bad example of what happens wwhen a
fad filmmaker extends his boundries too far into letting friends make
movies, I assume.

Anyway, I'm amazed the third film got made, but the filmmakers (Who appear
to be a completely different crew from 2... thankfully.) got it made. They
went for a prequel of sorts, but I still recommend watching 1 then 3. Both
have a good Deadlands vibe... The heores (I.E. the Posse) are cool and
capable, but up against nasty opponents. The first one, while set in the
modern time period, could still be mined for ideas on staging and effects
for a nasty swarm monster attack. The fact that I never quite put this
into my mental 'vampire' movie list says how good it is... It was promoted
heavily without relying on the supernatural aspects, i think.

The second is utterly horrible.

The third in the series, to finish my rant, is a prequel following Ambrose
Bierce's trip to Mexico... I did some basic work to dig up the history,
and they seem to at least have worked from a correct core of facts about
the interesting Bierce, although i wouldn't exactly consider it a good
movie to use to study for a history exam... The secondary charcaters,
while not nearly as memorable as in the first, are still good. There's a
LOT of references to the first movie, however.

Basically, I had a great time watching these movies even if I kept
assigning Deadlands archetypes and/or arcane backgrounds to characters.
