No brain == no harrowed.  As long as the head is intact, with brain
intact inside, then the manitou is still there keeping the person's soul
there.  Generally, if enough damage is done to the head to equal 5
wounds, it's assumed that the brain is damaged beyond usefullness.  For
a beheadin', the wounds are dealt to the head as far as the wound
location chart, but we all know it's the neck that got severed.  The
body will fall lifeless to the ground, but the head still un-lives.
Sewing the head back on will let the manitou heal the wound/reattach the
head.
