Re: [DL] Frontier House
I really liked Nate, his father and his brother. They just had such a great attitude about the whole thing as they built their cabin from absolutely nothing. (I've taped but haven't seen the first episode, so if Nate threw a major hissy-fit then, I haven't seen it.)

Yeah, but I did like how Mr. Clune thought ahead about what their 'one item' would be and made it a still. And how the makers of the show OK'ed it and let him 'sell' alcohol to the General Store for extra money.
It was disappointing, though since at the time they thought Mr. Clune was really becoming malnourished, I can't blame them that much. I was really surprised by them using the boxsprings, especially after the Mr. Clune made a rope bed for Mr. Glenn. He did make a wire whisk for his wife to cook with, though. I thought that was pretty cool. It was a reminder of the tiny, tiny things we take for granted.

Good Lord, if she'd been my wife, Frontier House would have had an authentic frontier funeral to go with Nate's wedding. Evil shrew-monster. Of course, both husband and wife had issues. There was a line from the husband about how he wished his mother could see what they'd done, "so she could see that her son wasn't the loser that... she might have thought he was."
Overall, it seemed like Nate & Company had the best attitude for building a community. Mrs. Glenn was just too competitive. It was like, just because 2/3 of homesteaders failed, that only one of these families could succeed, and it was going to be HERS. Yeesh.
Send Stone out for that one... :)
