Hi,
    I would like to suggest a solution to the "Detroit" issue, namely that
it be decided that as the campaign is/was essentially a fiasco (i.e. the
stated goals were either not achieved or cost far too much) the British High
command replaces the general in charge and pulls back.  The replaced general
then suffers the fate of a certain English admiral in Voltaire's Candide.
