         Just my two bits.  As perviously stated, the main goal of the Reckoners was to prolong the war and cause as much fear and bloodshed as possible.  The more fear and bloodshed the War generates, the stronger the Reckoners grow.  Thus they not only swayed the abominations to attack the Union first, but they also created certain abominations (the Black Regiment and Davis' doppleganger to name but two) that helped the Confederacy.
