The generic "Derringer" in the DL Rulebook is a .44, which is
obviously bigger than the LeMat's .40 chambering.

Historically, it wasn't; unreliable and awkward to use, yes, but
definitely not underpowered. As for the game reason, you'd have to ask main
rulebook author Shane about that. I simply took what had been published
previously and honored it.

Now I'm *really* confused. The C&B version should not do more
damage than the metallic cartridge variety. Only Shane or Steve Long can
explain this one.
