Speedloaders were introdced in the early 20th century
- for the Webley-Fosbery Automatic-Revolver I believe.
Before that you could swap cylinders for a quick
reload in some caplock revolvers.

The Colt SAA had a fixed cylinder but the S & W
Schofield was a break action like a Webley. I am not
sure on the other common models.

This question comes up often enough that it should be
put in the FAQ.
