Well, forensic science as it exists today simply wasn't around in the old
West. If you have access to The Agency: Men in Black Dusters, it actually
describes in detail how one would investigate cause of death. I heartily
recommend picking up the book if you have the spare cash. It's one of the
best Deadlands books there is.
