I get great adventures on the web, for free. And I meet some damn fine
people at every convention I go to.
I'm sorry, but you haven't provided me with a reason to deal with the
hassle of writing a check every year.
According to Hasbro, for $5/year I can get:
Access to Living Campaigns - so I can take my character from GM to GM
and am graciously allowed to keep my experience points. . .
Classic Adventures - I'm allowed to play a one-shot adventure.
Interactives - I can participate in LARPs. There's a LARP at the local
game store every Friday and every other Sunday. Every GenCon I've been to,
I've played in the Deadlands Larp (and those were a blast).
Scenario Library - I am allowed to /purchase/ amateur adventures at a
discount rate. . .
Polyhedron - for joining the RPGA I am allowed to /buy/ a subscription to
Polyhedron magazine. At the cut rate of $5/issue ($30 year bimonthly).
Isn't Dragon Magazine's off-the-shelf cost $5?
And the undefined "Other benefits". . . I suppose that being allowed to
participate in Winter Fantasy, an RPGA only convention counts. But - you
have to pay to get into that Con as well. Also, if I am even able to
travel to a con, I'm only able to travel to one or two a year - my first
three picks are GenCon, Origins, and/or Ghenghis Con (it's nearby and they
allow beer in the gaming areas).
I'm sorry - but as far as I'm concerned, this is one buck-naked Emperor.
The RPGA offers nothing that other game companies don't already provide
for free as part of their fan support operations.
