<< Hi all. I just got The Way of the Gun for Deadlands D20, and I've
gotta say, I LOVE IT, especially the Crusader prestige class. Of
course, how could you not like a class that has an ability called
"Destroyer of Evil"? :-) Nice job, Steve! >>
Thanx! Glad you like it. Coming up with cool Prestige Classes is the
funnest part of writing any D20 book, in my experience. ;)
<< With the fawning sycophancy out of the way, however, I have a few
questions, for Steve or Shane:
1. What are the statistics (size, weight, range, critical hit range &
damage multiplier) for the Acid Gun, Gatling Rifle, and Gatling
Shotgun? They didn't show up on the Expanded Shootin' Iron list. >>
Hmmm. Offhand, I'd say:
Acid Gun: 20/x2, RI 10 feet (max range 45 feet), weight 20 lbs.
Gatling Rifle: 19-20/x2, RI 50 feet, weight 16 lbs.
Gatling Shotgun: 19-20/x2, RI 25 feet, weight 13 lbs.
Reasonable minds are free to differ. ;)
<< 2. Is the Firearms proficiency appropriate to use the Acid Gun? It
seems to me that it would be an Exotic weapon, much like the
Flamethrower. >>
I'd agree. Exotic it is.
<< 3. Of the new feats (Fill Yer Hand, Mercy Shot, Slip Shot, Special
Draw & Steady Shot), which ones can be taken as bonus feats by a
Gunslinger? >>
I'd say all of them.
<< 4. Just for clarification, does the Law Dog prestige class start with
two ranks of the Law Man feat at 1st level (one rank as the first bonus
feat, and an additional (free) rank)? >>
First, a Law Dog gets one level in the Law Man feat for free.
Second, the Law Dog gets a bonus feat pick at 1st level. He must use this
to pick another level of the "Law Man" feat. That way he always starts his
career with the authority to be either a town marshal or a county sheriff. If
he wants to start as a LD with greater jurisdiction, he has to use one of his
other starting feats -- one for being 1st level, one for being human -- to
buy more levels in the feat.
In some circumstances, such as a game based entirely in a small town, I
can see the Marshal allowing a LD to start his career with just the one free
level of Law Man, since that would be all he'd need.
Clear as mud now? :)
