According to the DLd20 Rulebook (p. 53), the firearms proficiency has three sub-proficiencies: pistols, rifles and shotguns (which, I think, is appropriate).
In the class descriptions, all of the non-indian classes (i.e., all but the brave and the shaman) are said to be "proficient with firearms". Does that mean they are proficient with all three types of firearms or just with one (of their choice, presumably)?
Personally, I'd prefer the latter solution. Even a gunfighter wouldn't necessarily be a crack shot with a rifle and I really can't imagine a mad scientist knowing how to handle every type of gun. So, what do you think?
