Pro wrestling inherited its lingo from the old carnies in which it
was spawned: kayfabe, shooter, worker, etc. Thus, they have "mark" as the
insider term for a pro wrestling fan.
In the Internet Age, we've seen the rise of fans who *know*
wrasslin' is largely choreographed, but whom watch it anyway for the
storylines and the athleticism, the so-called "smart marks" or "smarks" for
short. These days, pretty much all fans are smarks to some degree or another.
