Seriously, though, yes, the 2nd ed weapon rules are much simpler. So is
magic, experience, etc etc.
I still have issues with all shotguns causing the same damage, but I've come
up with my own fix for that. (The gauge sizes progress on a ladder (8, 10,
12, 16, 20, .410), and each step under/above the 12 gauge gains/loses 1d6
damage per range increment. Thats right, a .410 at touching range does 3d6,
and an 8-gauge does 8d6. Not the best fix in the world, but I like it.)
I also give ever the slightest bonus TH to bolt-action rifles at longer
ranges, since they offer just a >little< more stable fire. Altogether the
bonus is insignificant, but it makes me feel better :)
