It's a mindset, really; much more so than geography. Some of the
best Southerners I've ever met are from Long Island, Canada and Poland
(Right, Ramel?;-) ).
When I consider what it takes to be a True Southerner, I think
foremost of this. Trust in God, your family, and in tradition, even when
the "mass men" (as Ortega y Gassett dubbed them) call you a damn fool.
People might call you old-fashioned for relying on the tried and true, but
everyone will respect you for your intergrity and dedication.
That's my two Confederate cents, anyway.

Marylanders shed their blood for the Confederacy same as anyone,
so it's a fine start.
