Re: [DL] Re: deadlands-digest.20010630-1

I actually have a 36lb toddler -- very dear to my heart, definitely not
something I want to carry around for any length of time (say, for instance,
all day at Disney...). What's even worse is a 17lb 8month old in a 20lb
carseat/carrier. At least my daughter can wrap her arms around me and hang
on. While I don't have d12 in my personal strength, I can vouch that 37lb
or so of dead weight is not fun to run around with. And yes, you do walk
slower if you are concerned about dropping your load.

I would imagine that the penalties might be reduced if you could somehow
"distribute" the weight well -- like with a real good backpackers pack -- a
frame that helps make the load seem less cumbersome. There are list
members who've been in (are in) the military. Any comments on how fast you
can march with a big ol' pack on your back?
