Actually, "absinthe" is still sold quite widely.  Only they took out the
"interesting" compounds, and kept the flavour.  Sort of like Coca-Cola.
    That is not to say that other products currently on the market don't
have their punch.  For instance, President's Choice Sparkling Pink Grapefuit
Soda gives me a buzz.
