Trap him. Use his greed and his unheroic-ness against him, and have it turn
into a double cross. No matter how good he is, there are some things that even
he can't deal with. Down a ghoul tunnel, his guns are going to be might hard to
get to.
One idea, if you can hold on long enough, it to get him bitten by a vampire.
Every time he feeds, he gets a black mark. Legend chips will fix this, but there
just aren't that many legend chips to be had.
Furthermore, if he's as bad as you say, then people know him and hate him.
Serious people. Bad people. Now that he's faked his won death, I'd be willing
to be some of the more affluent (and viciously as bad as him) are going to come
to town to see the man who gunned down Trent Barkley. Of course, if he's around,
they'll spot him. Cut to high-noon shootout, only his opponent's got a huckster
backing him up...
If the player is moderately reasonable, ask him to give the character up.
Tell him he's upstageing the rest of teh party, and you're having difficulty.
Offer to send the character him off onto some legendary mission that's almost
certain death, and that he can't ask anyone else to share with him (like going to
Devil's Tower to clean up the.. whatever they are). Every now and then, the
party could receive notices of what he's been up to, and possibly he asks them to
do some small task for him.
The other option is to Stone him. That's what Stone is for. Allow a Diablo
to catch him while he's in the privy.
Lots'a options.
