Re: [DL] Erie Canal

Some other ideas might some "routine" incidents. One of which might best
described by the title of a song relating to the canal: "Low Bridge
Everybody Down"! (There is a children's book illustrated by Peter Spier
connected to this song.)
Another song related incident comes from the Weaver's song "Erie Canal"
which suggests something of the drunkness along the waterways. The
possibilities of strife relating to a rich lady traveling via such a rough
and tumble route should be explored and exploited.
Will-o-wisps in marshes beside the Canal (either normal swamp gas or
something spookier) could serve to get the posse quite edgy. Especially if
they have just hit a snag (sunken tree trunk)
Actually, if it's still only March, the Canal might still be frozen
over, (or at least some sections of it). I live in Montreal which is only
about 100 miles north of the canal. My experiences with winter around here
would suggest it might not have thawed. Three weeks ago, there was still
ice on a lake to the south of here. (You could catch them with a late
freeze.)
    Hope that helps.

Padre no arrepiento, ni me da miedo la eternidad,
Yo sé que allà en el cielo el ser supremo nos juuzgarà
Voy a seguir sus pasos, voy a buscarlos al mas allà."
