Shane,
I just received the above from John Zinser over at AEG, and I wanted to
both confirm the above, as well as see if there was any way I can convince
you to consider allowing Lazarus Games to release new Doomtown product
scheduled for November of this year. While I totally understand the
viewpoint here, I disagree completely with the conclusion.
Obviously, I'm not approaching you from an altruistic standpoint; that
said, it is my sense that leaving the game "dead" for an extended period of
time will bleed the player base, something the brand can ill afford if it
is going to be profitable in the future. Similarly, the card pool is at a
point right now where certain decks and cards are going to become
predominant in the game, leading to stagnation of the play environment.
This is a particularly bad position in which to leave a CCG, especially if
one is to hold out hope for a successful revival.
The above noted, I should also inform you that, should you reconsider, I'm
very close to a "handshake deal" on the majority of financing required for
Doomtown's relaunch.
Should you stand by the decision to leave Doomtown in the grave for now, I
hope we can discuss some other Deadlands licensing possibilities; I've been
considering some options for new product development for Lazarus Games, and
if Doomtown is not to be our launch, it makes sense to move another product
forward. At least one of the front-runners in this area is a licensed
Deadlands game, which I'd be happy to discuss if you're amenable to the
possibility.
