OK, the Ghost Rock that they start to eat is either very pure or very
impure.  Enough of a difference where they don't get Ghost Rock Fever.  The
"coal" part isn't what sustains them, however.  Instead, it is the spirits
imprisoned in the rock.

The bad news is that the survivors get such a rush out of the spiritual
essence that they become psychologically addicted and begin the equivalent
of sniffing -- standing near burning GR and inhaling the spiritual essence.
Eventually, this will not be enough and they begin killing people near ghost
rock in an attempt to get the spiritual essence -- only after they have
ingested enough Ghost Rock to have some inside them.  Throw in a chance of
possession by the damned or a Manitou who just can't resist the fun and
you're on your way.

At this point, they are a new cult/abomination for your posse to go and hunt
down -- one that occasionally looses a member to Ghost Rock Fever.  Fear
Levels for everybody.
