My take on the whole book was "GADGETS GOOD!" 

Particularly the player that was interested in playing a ballistophilic
Mad Scientist.

Agree with the statement that the MS rules don't need to be fixed. They
are definitely simpler than the rules for Junkers, which is heavily math
driven.
