[DL] Quick questions

 Just got a couple of niggly details I've been wondering about...

 Morphine - does it exist in 1876 in the way we know it?  Is it used as a
 heavy-duty sedative for injured people?  How readily available is it?

 My posse's martial artist had a portion of his skull blown off by a Colt
 Army and is receiving medical care at the moment, which is why I ask.

 Also, when a Marshal is swearing somebody in as a temporary deputy (as they
 do), what's the gist of the oath they have to repeat?  Does it have a set
 format, or is it just a few brief concepts of law-upholdingness?  Is there
 any more to it than holding your hand up and saying it - like, do you need
 a Bible, or a badge?
