We once had a smelly old prospector character with tale-tellin', in the good
old days when we actually played out the tale-tellin'. The player in
question kept us in stitches with his stories (one about a three-legged dog
named Tripod springs to mind), since at the time we didn't know what the
skill was really used for (the first two games ever for our group), but it
quickly got out of hand. After over an hour of straight tale-tellin', our
long-suffering Marshal began bribing the player in question with chips to
get him to shut up and let the game go forward.

Since then, we just roll and move on.
