Player deaths are always rough.  What with the grieving (or celebrating)
families, the inevitable police investigation, the accusations, the
squabbles over the insurance money...  You have my sympathies.

Actually, what you wrote above was far from absolutely clear, but I realize
what you meant, I think.

In any event, I can think of at least one good reason for them to have gone
into the swamp (other than the fact that I am the world's most clever
manipulator of players and characters, making them dance to my evil
designs):

Otherwise, not much would have happened, and they would have eventually
gotten tired of the room service at the Hôtel St-Louis.
