Neither. Weapon damage is weapon damage. If it isn't prevented outright it
goes through to armor damage or character damage. You only halve when there
is no weapon bonus. That way you can still smack them around with a club
but bare handed you get squat. Try banging on a metal plate with a crowbar
for a while then hit it with your fist. If you can dent the plate with your
fist you can get damage through.
