This just raises a whole heap o' problems and in game I would give the gun a
reliability drop of at least -5.

The best way (and one that does not require making serious modifications to
the gun) is what was often done in reality - wrap a piece of wire or twine
tightly around the trigger so it's always "pulled", then just fan the
hammer.
