Because a one-person game focuses *entirely* on one player, be sure to
give that player what he wants. In a normal, multiplayer, game, if part of
the story, or a particular scenario in general, doesn't appeal to a given
person, he can step back out of the spotlight and let other people who are
interested do their thing. In a solo game, that's not possible. So, find out
what sorts of things the player wants in his games, and give it to him. If he
wants action, don't give him emotional stories or investigation-oriented
plots -- let him shoot things. If he likes investigations, toss a mystery and
some intriguing NPCs at him.
