odds.</shameless plug>

In general - twice as many of the lower die type is about the same as the 
higher - for example - 4d10 is about as good at 2d12.  However - rolling 
one die always just blows because of the higher chance to bust.  2d6 gives 
about the same value of 1d8, but 1d8 busts more often.
