[DL] Re: Buying Habit
>How many of posses out there just use the Marshal's books?
We use pretty much every book as far as characters go. As the marshal I use
all the material for ideas.
>How many players purchase _only_ the book appropriate to their particular
>character?
The only players to purchase books were Marshals. The rest of the posse just
borrow them for their character. In fact, our players only buy the game
systems they are interested in and end up loaning out the books to their
players. My players don't keep a log, care about politics of the land or
anything developing in or around their group. Simply what the adventure is
at hand and how to survive it. We have several mysterious adventures, and
they players do great, but as far as any outside events they simply don't
care.
>How many Marshals _don't_ want the players reading the Posse sections in
each book?
I don't let the players read the Marshal section. They want to peek but
don't and it's nice to be able to trust them. They get a bit interested and
when Deadlands first came out they were very excited about the weird west.
Now that they've played one campaign (under and different Marshal and very
horribly wrong) they don't have any more interest in the weird west and
getting them to play it is like pulling teeth.

I love the different sections. It makes it easy to simply tell a player what
section to read and have them informed on what is happening in the world
(for the most part). I wish other games did this.
