Re: [DL] Anyone know... I do!
http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/mdbquery.html might be a good place to
look for historical maps and other historical digital data.
It mentions:
Civil War Maps ~ 1861-1865
http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/gmdhtml/cwmhtml/cwmhome.html,
Maps ~ 1544-1999 (http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/gmdhtml/gmdhome.html) ,
Railroads ~ Maps ~ 1828-1900
http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/gmdhtml/rrhtml/rrhome.html
-----------
A *very* nice modern interactive map can be found at
http://www.nationalatlas.gov/scripts/start.html
I zoomed in on the US, selected "State Boundires" and "shaded Relief"
and then 'redraw'. I'm sure your browser can then save that image to
disk for future messing/printing.

The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new
discoveries, is not "Eureka!" (I found it!) but "That's funny ..."
