OK, I'm running behind.  So sue me.

Some hindrances you control (i.e. Enemy, Grim Servant of Death) and some they 
control (Hankerin', Heroic, etc.).  They get chips for playing the ones they 
control, then you take the chips away by playing the ones YOU control.  
Simple. ;)
