[DL] re:Alchemy resources
Here are the problems I've run into often when dealing with alchemists. PEG
in all its glorious wisdom broke down the components for tonics and such
into four basic catagories, common, uncommon, rare and exotic. They didn't
tell you what these things are or what really constitutes each group so I
came up with this short list.
Common: Anything from the first 75 slots on the periodic table, in almost
any combination or things you use around the house. Thus sodium chloride is
permissable where uranium oxide is not. It won't hurt to keep a table handy
for when your alchemist decides to start brewin. When all else fails just
tell him he needs clean water...Good luck finding any of that in the old
west.
Uncommon: Mixtures that you don't find everywhere. Amonium nitrate, copper
sulfide, most of the inert gasses and heavy metals qualify. You may need a
chemistry textbook to find some relavant ones but its worth it.
Rare: Here is where the fun begins Rare items can be anything you want it to
be. Nothing too fancy mind you but still hard to find. Rare plants,
mushrooms, living things work best because they are harder to manufacture.
Peices of animals not native to this continent also work well. Rhino horns,
tiger claws a monkey's fist, My alchemist gets them in special from africa.
Exotic: Here is where the fun stops and the manical laughter begins. This
can be anything you want from ghost rock dimonds (hoo boy is that funny) to
the shower water of an insane asylum. If you can dream it you can make your
player go get it. My personal sugesstion is relics or peices of relics.
(you turned my deadmans bullets into what?!?) The best thing to use for
this is time life books, the weirder the better. Never let it be anything
that could be bought at any kind of store. The absolute best things to use
are chicken lips, powdered hens teeth, crocadile feathers, alagator tears,
and pigs sweat glands.
