You'd be surprised what an Xacto knofe can do to metal,
unless you've actually tried it.  They make a saw-type
blade that works well in these situations, but you're
better off just using a regular blade.  Put a block of wood
or something UNDER the piece you are trying to get rid of
and then apply pressure and a saw-like motion and you'll
get through it faster than you can say "Holy crap there is
half an inch of Xacto blade stuck in my thumb and It's
bleedin like a Monty Python Sketch!"
